Prayer Helps

Prayer is something with which we all struggle. Whether it be in trying to find the words to say or disciplining ourselves to find the time to pray, all honest Christians would agree that with me in saying that prayer is an area in which we all need to grow and mature.

One of the things I have found beneficial in helping me grow in this area is reading the prayers of others. The best place to go for this is the Bible itself. Throughout Scripture we see prayers lifted up to God by his people expressing sincere praise, joy, fear, disappointment, and desires. Other works such as The Valley of Vision and The Book of Common Prayer have proven helpful to me over the years as well.

This morning, I came across Scotty Smith's blog (pastor of Christ Community Church in Franklin, Tennessee) and read some of his daily prayers he has recently written out. They were a great encouragement and help to me and I hope you find that to be the case for yourself as well.
